[Discussion] PVP outlook for the Future
for all pvp lovers this is a weighty question.
while big publishers are needing to go away from small stuff teams ( 200-600 manpower ) during
development and after a release into maintain teams ( skeleton crews of under 50 ) size, they need to
realize that softness content isnt woriking to hold up the sign for a sub based mmorpg modle !
the problems that arise thereby are stagnation and irregular improvements or even the worse opposite.
like selling cars. your new factory, workshops and supplier are not wokring in the same direction into the
future. pulling out a few cars a month isnt working. we need for mmorpgs also a industrial separate
rough copy.
back to pvp....we get to little attention and variable content and fixes for this part in a mmorpg.
if it comes to repeatable content, pvp is never the same and always feels fresh. but if the availability
is not given to all players in a mmorpg, this content get realy stall and is only a supplement.
also for new players that might get in touch with it or casual/mainstream players need to get a good
portion to have fun in this part of a mmorpg.
the above casual players already have pvp for their enjoyment and need those players to even fullfill their
needs (gear/score/rankings/e-penis). and seeing across many mmorpgs how poor it is handled after a
release or after years, bugs me hard how long this will go on in all mmorpgs.
means in the end, i cant see any good will of a publisher that build a mmorpg and than cut the developers
team into a skeleton crew. not able to hold above needed limits of developers for the next 5 years to bring
a IP up to a standard to call it production stage. cos at this point you can start up to make workflows and
teambased contentdrop. all the time from release is always needed for bugfixes and polishing as well as
balance patches.
my question now is...
how you feel for your mmorpg, their development team size ( if you have some links, would be great ) and
the balance patches...good, bad, well done, poor or satisfactory.
i played the last decade 3 pve and 1 pvp based mmorpg mainly.
and i must say that 1 out of 3 only managed it and the pvp mmorpg is also well done.
a lot of tryout played mmorpgs are even worse in my eyes....
ps.:
checked some company sizes that develop mmorpgs and found this..its old but that gave me a scope and how they handle their products....and it feels strange in some games after reading, why i started this question. here take a look....its outdated, but ... its enough to have a view of it.
pps.:
i dont want to have racetracks (pvp) without class ( some drives a Smart in a F1 race ) requirement.
