Black screen after character select

Hello, I've just installed the game but right after character select I have already run into a problem. The screen fades away to a slightly transparent black; I can hear the music and the sound of waves lapping on the shore, but there is nothing else I can do with the game at all.

If it helps, I'm playing on a Late 2013 iMac, OS version 10.11.4, with 8 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics driver with 1 GB of VRAM. Not sure if it's an issue with my computer itself, as it can run most games just fine.
