Questions about fibre runs

Help

Still trying to get my head round all the standards for fibre runs and how it all works.
From what I can tell, I need SFP+ to connect my switches together.

I've been told its best to get single mode fibre (from my limited knowledge of optics, this makes sense).
When it comes to buying cables however, how do I know they have the correct ends? It also seems that some come with the Transceivers already attached? Can you not buy cable with just the ends for plugging in?

The switch I am looking at is the Powerconnect 5524. I need two runs of cable around 60m in length. Do i need to buy "Direct attach" cables?
So much to learn!
