Question about EHX Cathedral infinite reverb layering

So I just bought an EHX Cathedral (with the infinite reverb mod but probably irrelevant). When I play notes with the infinite reverb engaged, the new notes seem completely dry. Is this supposed to be how it works?

It's a bit jarring going from a lush reverb to a completely dry signal. I suppose I could stack another reverb so it's less jarring, but that seems a tad annoying.
