3 quick questions from a backcountry rookie
I have some experience car camping but will be stepping out and will be spending a few days in a wilderness area. I have three questions that I have not had to run into during my car camping experiences: Would animals be able to smell my bear spray while in the can? I'd like to keep it in my tent at night for that extra sense of security, but I don't want to attract any visitors. Would water I have in a container (nalgene, smartwater bottle) attract any animals to my tent at night? I know tents aren't considered proper shelter during a lightning storm, but what if there arent any other options? Should I get out of my tent and put my rain gear on in a lightening storm, and just wait under a group of smaller trees? I haven't seen anything online about this situation. I feel like Ive got everything else under control except for these issues. Any help on these are appreciated!
