Keyboard navigation in emulationstation - no longer working

Hi folks,

Was playing around with the Pi, and up until today the keyboard would be recognised when booting into Emulation station if plugged in ( wouldn't get 'no gamepad found' screen) and I could navigate with it.

Today I noticed the keyboard won't navigate the menus anymore on Emulationstation.

• The only thing different I'd done was the night before fired up a N64 mupen64 powered game fr the first time - it hardlocked the system and I had t power down. This morning I find the keyboard seems to n longer navigate, and the Pi also seems to be very slow in connecting with my 8bitdo SNES30 controller on boot up, but that's an issue for another day

Was wondering if anyone could suggest how to re-enable keyboard nav in Emulationstation?
