A lot of golf for a great cause

Tomorrow, at 4:50 am I will be teeing it up in my third golfathon for ALS. We are raising money to help support a local family man who has the terrible disease.

Last year we played 262 holes and the year before we played 270. It was a lot of golf and to be honest it's kind of a dream come true. Growing up I loved golf, hated school. I would often dream of just playing golf all day, and tomorrow I get to live out that daydream again.

We play a par 62, 8 par 4's and 10 par 3's, all full length. The longest par 3 is 240 and the longest par 4 is 460. We alternate tee boxes to keep it fresh(ish), we putt with the flag in and practice swings are a no-no.

If you ever get the chance to do something similar I would highly recommend. But don't push past your limits. I've heard of these types of events ruining peoples games and/or bodies for months.

just finished, we played 263 holes. started at 4:54 am and finished at 10:45. we have 2 courses on site and we played the one that is less busy. I loved it. The guys i played with are 41, 50, and 58 and they are done, they'll probably take the next couple days off.

Came to thank you for supporting the ALS cause, and wish you luck on the course. Just had our 14th annual (but final) memorial tournament for my Uncle in April.

It is my pleasure to lend my body for a day for a great cause like this. My condolences about your uncle.
