NorCal != North Carolina

Discussion

Seriously, who started calling the North Carolina the NorCal? Every time hear someone say it I think, "do you even know what you are saying?"

Now you're just getting salty.

Doesn't that stand for players whose ships get detonated?

Sure, but what two syllable abbreviation should one use instead?

EDIT: NC. Durr. Kids, this is why you don't post to Reddit before your morning coffee.

I have the same reaction to people calling the North Carolina the NorCal as when I hear people saying the word "nucular." :)

In WoWs, everyone knows what ship you mean if you say NorCal.

You asked why people started calling her that. I gave you an answer. "NorCal" sounds better than "NorCar", though "NoCar" does have potential.

In any case, you ain't gonna change this one.

I vote for NaCl

I never hold my breathe of things like this. Once something takes root in terms of nicknames, its there for the duration.

How many Reddit accounts do you think I have? :)

The obvious answer to your question is I didn't look at the account name when I made my reply. When I recognized my error after u/Vermigs replied, I thought it so inconsequential that addressing it wasn't necessary.

Yeah, you'd hate to confuse the USS North Carolina for the USS Northern California. ^^^/s

If California ever splits into two states you're going to feel really stupid. /s

Only if they then subsequently build a warship named after it. :D

It's been so widely used at this point you might as well give in.

Even though NorCal stands for North California.

Fortunately there never was a warship named the Northern California, so I think we're ok. :-P

DunK1nG•

Dont underestimate WG, they will make the North California a special-event ship :D

2
arstechnophiletechnophile_•

It'll just be the forward half of the USS California. If you ever stop moving or try to reverse in it you immediately start taking flooding damage. :-P

Uh, we just found the nerf to BBs :D

Considering you don't explain what else NorCal is... And yes, I know what it is. I just don't care.

That's why I call it the NCal. jk

NorCal is too long, I abbreviate with NC or Ncal

I just refer to NCs as "dumbass" or something to that degree in-game. 90% of the time, that's how they act anyways, so it works.

NorCal = Northern California.

NC= North Carolina
