This Sidewalk
This sidewalk is a happy place,
with joy and warmth abound.
Here, we are the prince and princess-
and, yes. I wear my crown.
This sidewalk is a comforting place:
We always offer hugs.
You can lie your burdens down;
do not them with you lug.
This sidewalk goes down sometimes...
but only to back up bolt!
At these times, we bind together,
to protect us from the jolts.
This sidewalk is not a lonely place
(you will have a friend).
But as we continued, I realized something:
This sidewalk never ends.
I turned to my companion,
and then my query asked:
"What is this place we stand,
where everything seems to last?"
The figure turned to me,
eyes tender as a dove.
He smiled as he answered;
He said, "This sidewalk's called love."
