Are there any good f2p pking builds revolved around mage?

Was thinking about getting 59 mage for Fire Wave and then getting 40 attack for the Rune 2h and going pking. I wasn't sure how viable this is though. I am assuming it is not too great seeing as most people seem to go with the range to rune 2h combo in f2p from what I have seen. Are there any possible builds I could go with or is it just not worth it?
