Landlord won't give me a disabled parking spot and lease violated me for asking.
There isn't any disabled parking next to my apartment and I've asked nicely for close to a year for a spot that can accommodate my van. Management gave me a reserved spot in a compact space that other people park in all the time. I can't access anything on the passenger side of my car because there is never more than about 6-12 inches of space between my car and the car next to me. I also have to let my kids out of the car while I'm still in the street because otherwise, they can't open their doors. It's the last spot in the row and the drivers side is on the curb/walkway.
I recently not so nicely demanded a disabled parking spot since my car keeps getting scratched from being a van in a compact space and the very next day I got a lease violation for storing unapproved items on my balcony attached to a photo with a circle around my mop.
I counted 29 other balconies with mops and went to the landlord to see what gives. Apparently, I signed a crazy addendum stating that no mops will be on the balcony at any time. Screw that. Even the resident manager and maintenance man have mops on their balconies. My mop has been on the balcony for almost a year and I never had anyone say anything before this.
My kid has allergies so I asked asked the doctor to write a note saying she's allergic to the mop and it needs to live outside. Doc complied and now my mop is happily outside where it can dry properly.
TLDR: Landlord won't give me a disabled parking spot and gave me a petty lease violation because I demand a disabled spot. My kids doctor says she's allergic to the mop so it stays outside against the rules of the lease.
