No I will not contribute to your GoFundMe account
I used to be good friends with this married couple, but haven't been close to them in the last couple of years. As long as I've known them they've always struggled financially, mainly due to their frivolous spending. It got to the point where they declared bankruptcy. Despite this, they decided to have a kid that is now 2 years-old.
We live in an area where the LDS (Mormon) religion is prevalent. Last year they made the decision to join the Mormon church. This came a shock to a lot of people as we've joked about the religion and drink during our social gatherings. Those of you not familiar with the religion, the church likes to take care of its members. This includes financially. Since joining, the wife went back to college because the church is paying for it. The church has also been paying their rent for the last several months, along with other necessities. One of the reasons I don't hang out with them anymore is because I got tired of them complaining about money and do not agree with them joining the church for their own financial gain.
The other day while scrolling through Facebook, they posted a link to a GoFundMe account, asking for donations to help with their "growing family" ($10,000 is what their asking). The account says that they've been trying to have a second child for the past year, but now need money for testing and possible fertility treatments. What. The. Fuck.
I'm just at a loss for words and disgusted by the fact that they can't even afford the one kid they have now, but think it's a great idea to bring in a second one. Smh..
