Dark Elf Slavery Mechanic?
First, let me say I am no expert on WH lore. I welcome any and all criticisms, additions and corrections to my statements on the lore.
OK, so those Dark Elves have a real penchant for slavery, right?
Yeah... let's just say they don't post many mining or farming jobs on Naggarond's LinkedIn page.
Anyways, I was thinking about how CA could include this in game to create an authentic feel for the DE while also keeping the gameplay experience interesting.
I petition for a slavery meter not unlike Bretonnia's peasant meter that can both positively and negatively affect the DE player. Let me explain:
-
The DE player can gather slaves through raiding, sacking settlements and/or defeating enemy armies.
-
At an "efficient" quantity of slaves, the DE should enjoy normal or slightly reduced building costs and an overall stable economy.
-
But, as your slaves
dieretire, your slave meter will steadily drop over time unless sustained with more slaves. -
If your meter gets too low, the DE would suffer dramatically increased construction costs and an overall feeble economy now that there are few to work the mines and fields.
-
However, as a risk-reward mechanic, if the DE player is too aggressive with their slave acquisition, they may build a slave population so high that building costs go even further down but a severe public order penalty would be suffered to represent the increased risk of a slave revolt.
In conclusion, I do not think this would be that complicated for CA to implement and manage in WH2. I also believe it would make for an authentic DE playstyle that would make their gameplay feel unique.
But tell me what y'all think.
Do you think this is a plausible system?
Could it work but, most importantly, would it make the game more fun?
