Bones/Sheary
Am I the only one who doesn't care if both of these guys move on to other teams? I've seen a lot of others post about how we should try to keep them and often at very steep prices (ie. $3.5 mil for Sheary?).
Obviously, they are both now back to back Cup champions and they've both had amazing streaks at times. However, they were both pretty 'meh' for this most recent playoff run.
Sheary - had a great year playing with Sid, but he was arguably the worst Pens player in the playoffs this year - by far IMO. It was painful to watch. I don't think he is as dynamic as a lot of other wingers are when you're talking 1st/2nd line wingers. Not sure what his stats are, but when he's not playing I don't think they're that great. I also have concerns about his size long term. I think it would be wise to trade him while his value is high or let him walk.
Bonino - had streaks in the playoffs this year, but was no where near the form he had in last years playoffs. I actually thought he should have been benched a few games during the early-mid part of the playoffs. His point production was about what you want out of a 3C in the league. In general, I'd rather keep him than Sheary, but I don't think it's the end of the world if he leaves. I certainly wouldn't give him a ton of $$ to stay.
There's a lot of emotions tied to these guys, but from a hockey/business sense I certainly wouldn't be bending over backwards to pay them if I was GMJR.
Schultz and Dumo are much more deserving of a payday from the pens as they both had great years and had strong playoffs (consistency).
