[Rant/Vent] My family is complicated, thanks to my Mum.

[Rant/Vent]

Background info about my household: I'm 19 this year. I have a younger sister, who's 16. She's the GC, reason being "she looks more like me" -quoted from Mum herself. My parents are divorced. However, we all live under the same roof, and we have a live-in house helper, who's going to be leaving next month.

My mum physically abused me from when I was about 3 till now. The "peak" was almost everyday, when I was 7-12 years old. Now, it happens once every 1-2months. I have learnt not to cry when she hits me, as doing so makes her less "satisfied". I have learnt to fight back, however it's useless as she is at least 1.5 times heavier than me. The most recent case was about a week ago, and it was 2 attacks in a span of less than 4h. I ended up with a noticeable scratch on my face, a bleeding circle on my arm, and nail marks all over my arms. She even scratched both my eyes, but other than a bit of soreness they were fine.

And it's not just physical abuse. When she doesn't hit me, she calls me names, spreads rumours about me etc to make me feel bad about myself and in general.

She has ruined my friendships/relationships. Most recent one was that between my father and I. It used to be equal: her favouring my younger sis, my dad favouring me (he is not abusive at all, so I guess it wasn't equal). She always had problems regarding control over her money, hence she is often strapped for cash (yet still able to pick up smoking and buy supplements for her body). She likes to ask my dad to refund her the money she spent on "gifts", etc for my sis/me, with the greater proportion being mine, as she is less willing to use her own money on me. This caused my dad to start disliking me, as he was starting to think of me as a spendthrift. For a few weeks, he didn't even want to look at me, much less be in the same room as me.

My sis is starting to see my mum for what she is, and had tried to stand up for me. Few months back, when my sis heard my mum threatening to hit me, she asked, "Can you stop wanting to hit people everytime?" That was the first time my sis had interfered, and that stunned my mum. My mum ended up just going into the bedroom after that question.

My sis was becoming increasingly rude to my mum, and so our helper told her to stop. So she did, for a period of time. However, along with that, she reverted back to taking mum's side in arguments (3 in 2 weeks). However, due to recent events, she again went back to seeing my mum's true colours.

As bad as things get, I always try to be optimistic.

Funniest thing was when sis told mum that she hates her (because of something my mum did), and mum responded with "Ok, I'll kick (my name) out of the house tomorrow." This bit of conversation was from the most recent case where I was hit, but that's another long story.
