NY Car Registration Question

Good afternoon and thanks in advance for your time and help.

I just recently bought a used car and now have to get it registered at the DMV.

I was told i first need to get the car insured before i can take my bill of sales and title to the dmv to get it registered.

The NY Dmv website states "You must register your vehicle within 180 days of the effective date on your Insurance ID Card."

Does anyone know if this means that i can call my insurance and ask them to start the coverage on the 1st of July (Saturday when DMVs are not open) and still be able to get it registered on Friday June 30th?

Or does the "within 180 days of effective date" mean after the start of coverage of my insurance?

If you know a better subreddit or any other place I might be able to get my question answered, it would be much appreciated
