How have you gone, in your opinion, out of your way for your job or above your station only to not get praised/appreciated but get reprimanded?

Half a vent post. And figured I'd open the doors for others to do the same.

Friday I stayed at work for an hour of overtime to try and help out. There was a client that needed some assistance with some of their accounts. Basically they couldn't log into a website they needed to to use our products. I spent the last half hour of my shift and an hour after it ended trying to help to only finally figure out the issue was much larger than what I could assist with without staying for at least another hour, something my company wouldn't allow.

On friday I was just talking with a coworker about it mentioning how it seemed like the person within the company I was working with to try and resolve the clients issue seemed to be trying to paint myself the one at fault for their issue (not the case, merely the one trying to fix it, really no one is at fault. was just a perfect storm). Turns out co-worker tells supervisor that I had "visibly exhibited some frustration" and I get a novel of an email telling me in the future to just go to them (the supervisors) as opposed to talking to coworkers?

Anyways, /rant.

Any stories similar you'd like to share?
