No motherboard screen and windows boots to black screen.

Hello, there is something broken in my computer and I don't know what, I was hoping someone here would know something. My computer was working fine yesterday until I tried to full screen a game I was playing. The screen turned off but I could still hear the game in the background. I turned off my pc and turned it back on. The motherboard screen showed up, then the windows logo, but then the screen turned off, windows was loading and working (I could hear sounds of stuff loading up). I found a work around for the screen turning off. After everything turned on and the screen went black, I would press the sleep button on my keyboard and after my computer went to sleep I pressed the power button and the screen would show up and everything would work. I tried to do system restore and system repair but they both did not work.(system restore had no points saved, the mouse and keyboard turned off if I tried to system repair) I once more turned off my computer and turned it on but this time the motherboard screen never showed up, instead my screen flashed from light black to black about 5 times and then windows loaded (I could hear the sound) the screen was black the whole time. I'm pretty sure I got a virus and it jacked up my pc, I'm not worried about that.(im getting a windows recovery CD and I will do a fresh reinstall of windows) I'm worried about the light black and black flashing where my motherboard screen would be. Does this mean my motherboard is messed up? Any help at all would be appreciated! One more thing, when I tried to open any exe's, the screen would go black and I would have to do the sleep trick to get it back on.
