Can anybody point me in the direction of a 2-person, self-inflating, sleeping pad?
About to hit a week long car camping trip in CO. I'd like better sleeping arrangements for my girlfriend (I'm pretty good in just a hammock). I seem to be unlucky in finding a good two person pad that isn't stupid expensive. I have searched through this sub, but not to much avail. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I'll just go the air mattress route (with some additional insulation and whatnot; if anybody has suggestions for a quality air mattress, I'd happily hear them)
Here are my requirements for a two person sleeping pad-
-
R-rating of at least 4
-
Self-inflating, with the ability to blow directly into valve to adjust firmness
-
Thickness of 3-5 inches
-
I believe I want a foam core for warmth, unless somebody talks me out of it
-
Size isn't terribly important, as long as two people can fit comfortably. My car-camping tent is 10'x8' (something around 4'x7' would be perfect. We have a combined weight of under 300lbs and neither of us are over 6' tall)
-
$200 max. Not worth spending more for this type of trip when an air mattress setup would be adequate. This is essentially a luxury item for me.
Any and all suggestions welcome. I know there are tons of threads on the topic, but I really haven't found what I'm looking for. If somebody could point me in the direction of a relevant thread, that would be much appreciated, as well.
Though I prefer not to mess around with pumps (especially those that need a charge [i.e. aren't manually operated or battery powered]), I see that this ALPS Velocity AirBed is on sale but only in twin, reviews are mixed, and I am not fond of the pump operation.
This ALPS Lightweight Double Air Pad seems pretty perfect. Any reason not to purchase? It is open cell and is two pads connected by velcro.
Thanks all.
