GPD's 100% "on/off trickle charge" method screws with Battery vs. Plugged power profiles — any way to fix that?

So, as most know, the GPD is set up such that once the battery hits 100% it stops receiving a charge and effectively "disconnects" the power cable until the battery drops to a certain level, at which point it "reconnects" the power cable and starts charging again. Someone suggested this is to help with the battery life or prevent overheating or something. Cool.

Except

During those times when the GPD isn't registering as being actively charged, Windows thinks it's on battery mode and uses the appropriate power profile. So if you've got it set to turn off the screen after 5 minutes on battery, it's gonna do that — even though it's still plugged in.

Does anyone know how to fix this? The only workaround I've been able to come up with is to give my Battery and Plugged profiles the same settings, but I'm not too keen on that because it kind of defeats the purpose of having two profiles, and it means that when I'm actually on battery, I'll be using more juice.

Is there any way to fix this? Is there any way to force Windows to recognize it's plugged in, even if it's not actively charging at the moment?
