Can anyone give me some insight on the Free State Project? I feel like I'm missing something...
I am a lifelong resident of NH and I have heard many things about the Free State movement, but I'm just not sure what to believe. Their website seems very innocuous, with a focus on liberty, community, and minimal government interference. Some of the other things that I have heard are a bit more concerning... I have read that it is their ultimate goal to infiltrate and dismantle the state government, then try to secede from the U.S. I have heard stories (from a friend who worked in the Keene city hall) that Free Staters make a habit doing everything possible to interfere with, and bog-down the workings of city hall. I have also noticed that they seem to be the ones brandishing their firearms openly on the floor of the legislature, and often in the news for mishandling them.
As much as I support their libertarian ideals, I have to wonder if they have been a benefit or detriment to the state. Can anyone share some facts about the movement, from either side? Does anyone have any specific examples of positive or negative interactions with the Free Staters?
