Southern California or Wales?

My FH and I are having such a hard time choosing between having a wedding in SoCal (where we live/just moved to a year ago, guest list would be about 150) and Wales, UK (where my Dad is from/his side of the family lives, guest list around 50-75).

A lot of our close friends love the idea of traveling to Wales, because it's such a unique and pretty location. It's got sentimental value, but I can't help but think I would miss out on a lot of the fun of wedding planning because I wouldn't be able to choose things/vendors from afar.

Has anyone been in a similar position?
