Mom does therapy sessions through Face time, but insists on using the entire house for it while I either have to stay in a room or leave the house entirely.
Okay its a really long story, and I feel kinda bad for even posting this but damn it bugs me and I find it really arrogant to do this.
My mom has been through a lot of abuse herself and was raised by extremely narcissistic parents. She was seeing a therapist for years and eventually the therapist moved to a different state. Now she still has therapy sessions but through facetime on her laptop with the therapist.
But she insists on using the most open area of the house, in the middle of the living room, and says that anyone in the house has to either stay in a room or leave entirely. The sessions are close to 3 hours as well.
There are FOUR vacant rooms with locks and doors, where she could have tons of privacy, but she usually guilt trips anyone who suggests this. Its frustrating and arrogant to me. Why do I have to lock myself in my room for 3 hours or leave the house when there are 4 ROOMS WITH LOCKS AND DOORS.
I understand not wanting other people in the same room during a therapy session...but the same ROOM, not the most open area of the entire house. I really don't understand why she just doesn't go in her room and have the session? Its embarrassing as well if I'm with my girlfriend and we have to leave the house and find some bullshit to kill 3 hours.
Am I wrong for thinking this or is this pretty arrogant? How should I go about changing this?
