Another step done: Got my ears pierced

I finally got my earlobes pierced and it's awesome! These are my first piercings of any kind, so it was a new experience for me. I'd been planning to get this done for a while, but for various reasons had been a bit hesitant - mostly because I'm still mostly presenting as male in public and was a bit concerned about how they might be seen by people when I interview. Today, I just decided it was time, that I don't want to hold back in doing the things I want to do because of what might or might not happen, so I went and got it done. And I'm so happy I did.

I went to a proper piercing studio and the whole experience was really great. I had to fill out a short form which, among other things, asked for current medications, so I wrote down my HRT (estradiol and finasteride). The piercer asked about them, so I told her they were hormones and we ended up having a chat about transition while she prepped and did the actual piercing. It just felt totally comfortable and relaxed (well, aside from the bit with the needle, but honestly, in terms of pain laser hair removal has been worse).

I wasn't expecting to find any negative attitudes in this situation anyway, but I'm still relatively early on in the whole transition process and having it be such a positive experience where I didn't need to feel any hesitation about being open about myself really made my day. Plus, now I just need to wait for them to heal and I can start wearing pretty earrings when I want.
