[TOMT][MUSIC] song I heard that brings up repressed memory
I've never used Reddit before, but this problem has been baffling me and I figured this is the best place to get an answer. Years ago, I walked into a record store to by Daft Punk's Random Access Memories with my friend. It had just came out, and I was a big fan at the time, so I had to have the cd for my collection. While in the store, I heard a song playing. I have ptsd from a trauma I'm very much aware of, but I've always had a suspicion that something else happened that I blocked out completely. I get glimpses of it every now and then. For whatever reason, when I heard this song, I had intense flashbacks to a birthday party, a roadtrip and random family friends my parents have probably not seen in 20 years. I added the song to my Beats playlist and listened to it once or twice, but couldn't hear it for very long without getting scared. When Apple took over Beats music, I lost all of my playlists.
All I can remember is the cover art. It was the view from the interior of a car. Probably the driver's view. I remember a steering wheel, the dashboard, the speedometer, and view of an open road at night. The colors were deep shades of purple and some green. I think you could see the skyline. The album is from the last 10 years, probably newer. It think it was some form of electro, or synth, maybe a wave genre. I'm bad at identifying genres.
I have no clue why a new song would bring up these old memories, but it happened. I feel like finding that song again would help me work through these foggy memories and feel a bit better. Im about to go on a plane and a cruise ship for the very first time in a month and Im trying to work on all the anxiety I've had lately. I feel like I could used this song to help articulate the problems I've been having to my therapist.
