Help Loading KML Files

Whenever I load a KML file into QGIS it shows up like this. http://imgur.com/a/Dggc3

• The KML file came from Google Earth

• The CRS's for both the project and KML are the same and are WGS EPSG 4326

Could it be that QGIS is not using libkml to read the file?

My issue originally was that I couldn't load kml files into QGIS. I was told I had an invalid format or something. I thought it was because I didn't get libkml as a reader for kml files and after pulling my hair out trying to get libkml running I got pushed in the direction of another solution.

I simply uploaded my KLM file into Google Earth and downloaded it again as a kml and it afterwards loaded into QGIS just fine.
