Rangers, Phillies open in a 20-Team H2H Points MLB/FanGraphs style league on Yahoo! [Baseball][Phillies][Rangers]
We're a very active and unique league and we're in need of two new owners to make our league more complete! Check us out here: https://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/b1/3889
MLB/FanGraphs Style of Play
Each season, owners start with their chosen MLB team's roster (owners may switch teams between seasons- so you wouldn't have to be stuck with these open clubs). We then have a 4-Round pre-season draft for players on the 10 open clubs. Scoring is a derivative of FanGraph's "ottoneu" points scheme (meant to score players more according to their true individual performance).
Dynamic Divisions/Scheduling
Each season, divisions are re-drawn based on the owner's prior season results so that teams are more evenly matched during the season. Teams then play 3 games against four other divisional opponents and one game against 10 inter-divisional teams (so each team does not play teams in one entire division) with playoffs among the Top 8 teams by record over the final 3 weeks of the year.
"Keeper" Options
If you end the season with a player who is on one of the rosters of the unowned teams the following season, you may choose to keep him in exchange for a pre-season draft pick. So even if you don't like either of these open teams, you can still build up your keeper base and switch to another club next year!
Other Details
Teams have only 2 active SP slots (and no all-purpose P slots), so owners are forced to actively rotate through their staff (this encourages activity while also capping pitcher output). There's also a limit of 3 weekly FA transactions and a weekly requirement of 28 IP by your pitchers (this keeps a check on player streaming and automatically penalizes owner inactivity). We also use continuous waivers with a rolling waiver and a 4-day per week processing schedule (this levels the FA playing field regardless of an owner's offline/non-fantasy schedule). Some folks have found these settings frustrating to play with, but I find them necessary with Yahoo's available league setting options.
