Question about Pokemon Permanently in a Gym [Bug]

I have a pokemon that shows up as being part of a gym, when he's not there for sure. In fact, I have put other pokemon in the same gym, when they get kicked out, he still shows up as being part of the gym. When I first tried to assign him to the gym, I got a message "The pokemon is no longer avaialbe," so I chose a different one. This is a 2709 Confusion/Future Sight Alakazam that I spent a long time powering up and want him back. I haven't reported it to Niantic, 'cause I figured they are busy and am hoping to get a faster solution here. I've signed out and restarted my phone (Android).
