Tax ID #

Just a quick question for my wife, She has recently became a distributor in Texas for baby clothing/accessories. She is wanting to do trade shows to get the product in front of people in person, however they all require her to have a tax ID number. We tried to get her one but honestly have no clue which one to get or what she classifies under. Can anyone walk us through the process?
