Kael'thas Pyroblast

I think Blizzard should either nerf the damage output of this or add some sort of counterplay to it. I like Phoenix so much more as it provides zone control and you can play around it but Pyroblast can actually oneshot you with one skill even if the levels are very similar.

Thoughts?

I think Blizzard should either nerf the damage output of this or add some sort of counterplay to it.

  1. Interrupt Kael'thas while he's casting.

  2. Run out of his range while he's casting.

  3. Make yourself invulnerable with something like Ice Block or run to the Hall of Storms.

  4. Dodge it the moment the blast hits to completely avoid any damage.

  5. Tank the hit with a lot of hp/shields/armor.

Pyroblast is laughably easy to counter. I would even argue it needs buffs.

Edit:

Btw,

Pyroblast can actually oneshot you with one skill even if the levels are very similar.

Pyroblast deals 2150 damage at level 20. Do you know who can get one-shotted by this? Erik, Murky and Abathur. That's it.

Well I consider more than 90% of max HP a oneshot as you are rarely above that. I was playing Li ming in QM (both teams lvl25), I had 3.2k HP at max and was at about 2800 HP and was dead as it hit me. Combined with a point and click living bomb there is not that much I could do against that.

Death recap: http://imgur.com/dtqnMou (he didn't even need the living bomb as you can see in the overkill)

You have several talents and abilities to avoid this.

  1. Force Armor.

  2. Diamond Skin and not picking Glass Cannon.

  3. Wave of Force him out of the cast.

  4. You can just straight up teleport out of range before the cast finishes or when the Pyroblast is supposed to hit to avoid any damage.

The last thing Pyroblast needs is a nerf. There are tons of ways to play around it. If you die to this, especially as Li-Ming, it's your fault. The ability does not need to get tuned down. Also, you easily outrange Kael'thas. Living Bomb is in Autoattack range. Pyroblast alone doesn't kill you here.

The TP thing right when it is supposed to hit is actually new to me, didn't know that and will try next time.

  1. I never pick Glass Cannon Illusionist feels way better to me.

And yeah pyroblast alone didn't kill me there living bomb did like 50 Dmg more than the overkill by Pyroblast and of course the 2% creep damage are very important too ;)

Pyroblast has a range of 15, Magic Missiles a range of around 13. The moment Kael'thas attempts to Pyroblast you, you TP and Pyroblast is on a 10 second cd. Btw, Living Bomb apparently did 100 damage more and that's actually relevant.

Pyroblast is a shit ult that only is effective against inexperienced players. The high single-target damage is irrelevant, when many heroes come with Stasis and Protected effects.

It can zone, alright, but so can Phoenix. It has a freaking 100 second cooldown, which is on par with Devouring Maw, Void Prison and Sanctification, and it can be countered by like at least half the hero roster. And you even ask for nerfs, which I just find funny.

Im masters and anytime i see some one pick pyro blast. they get flamed hard for picking useless ult. Lol

Because pyro is indeed a useless, garbage ult. One of the worst heroics in the game. Only good for chunking clueless potatoes in QM clownfiesta where those goofy comps (and low level players) have little to nothing to deal with it. But this thread is another proof, that its truly good for that. I mean, the OP guy cries because he either didn't know that he could easily dodge the fireball as Ming, or he couldn't execute it properly.

ThatGuyThatDoneThat"Mmm, yes, right. Right, I... have no idea what you just said." •

You can't deny tho, it's a useless Ult but it's still cool when it finishes someone off from 50%.

Don't get me wrong I don't think it is particularly useful, as I already said the Phoenix is way better in terms of utility but the fact that it deals that much single target damage is at least questionable when you compare it to other spells IMO

Just admit you're salty, this is not a serious complaint post but a useless rage post and move on.

I don't really agree. While it can do quite a bit of damage to a hero, it is negated by statis/protected which a number of heroes have, it can be interrupted, and it has a cast time that can be exploited. Heroes with spell armor, or that can give armor can negate a lot of the effect. If anything it should presumably have a shorter cast time or something like that as it's rarely a good pick in it's current state.

Exactly this. So many heroes have outs on this not to mention spell shields that drastically cut its dam plus the heroes that can teleport can juke it. If anything i think they should buff it where it just stays frozen in place while a hero is in stasis/ice block.

You are complaining about a complete troll ult, which has probably the most hardcounters of any ult in the game.

Nearly every hero has some sort of magic shield, barriers, teleport with invincible frames, or other ways to minimize the damage and if not, they probably have another hero in their team which can save them.
