Instructions:
Fill two inches deep with slurry (clay and water). If you intend to place Fomentek flat on a chair, more water can be added to make slurry.
If you intend to place Fomentek against your upper torso or have it hanging on your lap, add less water. Fomentek does not have sections that divide the clay into left, middle and right sections like FOMI 21 x 12 clay pack does. If you place a large Fomentek bag on your lap, the bag will hang down on your right and left sides. If you add too much water to the clay, the slurry will run to the bottom of the bag on both sides of you. If you add a little water to the clay to make a very thick slurry, the clay will stick to all parts of the bag. The clay will not run down.
Fomentek comes with an extra cap. The cap on Fomentek dos not screw on like a cap on hot water bottle or cap on an ice bag. The cap plugs in. Twice the cap came off. Very little clay came out because I made the slurry extremely thick. How to make the cap stay on?
The neck of the Fomentek bag is 1 1/2 inches diameter. Smaller diameter than ice bags have. Slurry is too thick to pour into it. Instead pinch off clay and drop into the neck. Add the water. Put cap on neck. Soak the bag over night. Gently knead the Fomentek bag to break up any lumps. Soak over night again. Add water if the clay absorbed a lot of the water. Soak over night. Gently knead the bag.
If you accidentally added too much water, squeeze the slurry out of the bag. Let the slurry partially evaporate in the sunshine or on the counter. Reuse in an ice bag or in the food container surrounding a milk crate to shield the head while sleeping. These posts are in the shielding: clay wiki.
Fomentek bags are not returnable unless it leaks. The bag consists of two layers of clear thin plastic. The bag is very durable and has not leaked.
Protect Fomentek bags from ultraviolet sunlight and from holes by inserting the bag inside of a zippered upholstery throw pillow cover. A large will fit into a 16 inches x 24 inches zippered throw pillow cover. For example:

A large Fomentek will fit into a zippered cotton twin size pillow protector cover but the fabric is thin. Twin size is 20 x 26 inches. This is 4 inches wider than the upholstery cover. Since Fomentek is 18 inches wide, it can be fully spread out in the twin size cover.

All clay bags tend to slump down inside of a cover. Attach a clamp on each corners of pillow cover to keep the bag fully spread out.

Rigid hot water bottles
When filled with slurry and holding the bottle in the lap, the bottle does not conform to one's body. The bottle is so rigid, very little of the body actually touches the body. Whereas, Fomentek bags, FOMI clay packs and ice bags conform to the body.
Thermoplastic hot water bottle
A three liter hot water bottle is 12 inches high not including the cap x 8 1/2 inches wide. 14.5 x 8.5 x 3 inches including the cap.
Thermoplastic. No offgassing of vinyl chloride. It does not come with a cover. I used a cotton draw string bag as a cover. Its funnel is wide but its neck is narrow.

Rubber or vinyl chloride hot water bottles
Materials used to manufacturer 2 liter hot water bottles are rubber, PVC or thermoplastic. PVC contains vinyl chloride. The hot water bottles sold at pharmacies reek of vinyl chloride. Vinyl chloride takes months to offgas. It is a respiratory irritant and carcinogenic. The two quart hot water bottles are 8 inches wide x 10 high excluding the neck and the end which has a hole for the hook to hang the bottle up. Including these the height is 14 inches. Neck is only 15/16 inches in diameter. The neck is 7/8 inches in diameter. The neck is too small to pour slurry in. Follow instructions for Fomentek.
