[Shielding: Maser] [Shielding: Clothes] Wool base layer thermal bottoms retain water for a shorter period of time than thicker cotton thermals.

Wet clothes shield maser attacks but not laser attacks. Wool can absorb 30% of its weight in water. I assumed finding 100% thick wool clothes would be easy and they would retain water longer than cotton clothes.

I discovered:

(1) finding 100% wool clothes is difficult;

(2) Finding thick 100% wool clothes is almost impossible;

(3) Various definitions of medium weight and heavy weight wool; and

(3) Thick cotton retains water longer than thin wool.

Meriwool manufactures a 100% merino wool base layer thermal bottom. Advertisement claimed medium weight. I consider it light weight. Size runs two sizes smaller. I ordered one size larger and the bottoms were too tight in the waist.

Soak clothes in a bucket or sink. When clothes dry, spray with a spray bottle. The thermals retained water for less than a hour. I returned them. I soaked my cotton thermals. They are thicker and retained water longer. Cotton feels colder than wool. OK in summer but I don't want to feel cold in the winter.

At least thick wool knee socks are available:

The thermals retained water for less than a hour. I returned them. I soaked my cotton thermals. They are thicker and retained water for hours.
