Review #1: Buffalo Trace

First review after being a lurker for awhile, constructive criticism appreciated!

Bourbon, 45%. Rested about 15 minutes in a glencairn.

Music: Whiskeytown seemed appropriate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhUji_YKHJw

  • Nose: Oak, vanilla bean, apple tart, cinnamon, buttered toast, brown sugar
  • Palate: Vanilla bean, brown sugar, honey, dark chocolate, apple tart
  • Finish: Short to medium but very tasty. Buttered toast, cinnamon, honey, brown sugar

Conclusion: This is a very simple but significant bourbon. Nothing out of the ordinary, the flavors are exactly what and where you want them to be. I think it's no surprise that this bourbon is fairly heralded as a benchmark for other mid shelfers. This bottle runs for about $26 where I live, so it's a no-brainer pickup each time I'm restocking.

Score: 82/100
