Advice needed for my first build

Hi there,

This is my first build since early 2000's, where I used to build gaming PCs. A lot has changed and there's been a lot to learn! My goal is to build a "budget" PC capable of handling transcoding 4K+ RAW and 4K H.264 footage, 4K editing and color grading. I'll be primarily using Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve Lite.

I was hoping to build the PC for $1,500 - $1,800 range. This ended up being $500 over-budget. Do you have any suggestions on what to cut or replace to bring down the cost? Here's my thought process behind the build:

  • After doing some research between getting Intel Core or Xeon, I went with the latter per industry professional recommendations.

  • I picked a Gigabyte motherboard because I'm familiar with the brand (my last build in 2002 had a Gigabyte motherboard!)

  • I read that it's recommended to have at least 4GB of RAM per core, so I got 1x 16GB RAM. But then I became paranoid and added another 16GB. Perhaps I should revert back to 16GB?

  • Storage: 500GB M.2 for boot, 500GB 2.5" SSD for cache, and 4x 4TB 3.5" HDD for main storage, would be formatted as RAID 5. I already own a few external CalDigit T4 Thunderbolt drives. I can perhaps use one as internal storage by taking out the HDD and installing them in this PC...

  • I went with the Quadro based on industry professional advice as well (although people recommended M4000 but it's too expensive for me).

  • Case and power supply research was overwhelming. But people here seem to like Fractal Design a lot, so I went with that. My PC would be in my bedroom, so I'd like a machine that doesn't have any bright LEDs and is quiet.

  • I'd probably be adding a Thunderbolt card, a Firewire card, and an SD Card reader. I couldn't find them on pcpartpicker.com. Those would be an extra cost too! :(

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: After further research and taking Redditors' advice, here's my revised build. What do you guys think of it? Also, I switched from Windows 10 Pro to Home. Is there any reason to go with Pro?
