[Event] The Coronation of King Andrea Doria

After receiving the letter of acceptance from Pope Julius II, Andrea Doria personally commanded the Ligurian fleet over to Rome, where the Pope and his entourage were picked up and sailed quickly to Genova, where they were met by an adoring crowd. They were moved quickly into the Palazzo Ducale, where an elaborate stage had been set. Tapestries lined the walls, porcelain dishware graced the tables, and gold leaf adorned most everything. Most impressive, however, was the crown - an elegant gold creation adorned with a variety of precious stones, inset with a star (representing the Kingdom over Africa) and the Genovese cross (representing the Kingdom of Liguria). Noble families and rich burghers crowded the room, eager to see their war hero officially crowned by the Pope himself. Then, exactly at noon, the ceremony began.
