Rules question: Kitsu spiritcaller and attachment characters?

LCG

So Spiritcaller reads "put that character into play in this conflict." Tattooed Wanderer reads "you may play this character as an attachment." Can I attach off Spiritcaller? And if so do they stay around since they're not characters at the end of the conflict?

Probably not. Spiritcaller doesn't play the card, it puts them into play. This is great because you don't have to pay the fate costs for the characters you're bringing back (unlike with Guidence of the Ancestors) but you also don't get to make them an attachment instead since you're not actually playing them.

"Playing" and "put into play" are two very different things in FFG games. Playing a card means paying for it. If you put tattooed wanderer into play with the spirit caller you are not playing the card so may not use the ability to play as an attachment.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to attach something to your Spiritcaller target, if that's what you're asking. Anything you put on it is leaving at the end of the conflict, though. It's pretty wasteful to put either of the attachment characters we've seen on a Spiritcaller target. Covert won't do anything for them and Togashi Kazue would be spending 3 fate to take one off of an opponent's character with no additional benefit.

Tatooed wanderer and Kazue are characters you can play as attachments. So can you use them as attachments on a preexisting character off spiritcaller is the question.

Edit: Nevermind, still misunderstood the question.
