Shield (not pro) slows heavily when plugging a 1To 3.0 HDD ; Remote is a pain in the ass to use past 3meters. WTF Nvidia?

I bought my shield yesterday. Way too often, the remote/shield doesn't respond then executes all the stacked command. Like, if i'im watching a movie and clicks on return, it won't answer, then if I click again, it will activate both my clicks and quit the movie, which is unbereable.

Also, why would an external device have such a huge impact on performance?

This is unacceptable from the current best TV player on the market.
