M39 Mosin bolt is a bitch to cock open
I know, typical Mosin bolt thread. Now, I've totally cleaned every nook and cranny of this gun. I have an aresenal refurbished 91/30 that cycles like a dream. The M39's chamber has about the same smoothness. When the bolt is actually cocked, you can turn it just fine, so I don't think this is a problem with the receiver.
I smoothed out all the parts of the bolt. Not as smooth as the Soviet one, but it's smooth on all the working areas. I'm wondering where on the bolt is catching. I have a newer, softer spring in there, so it isn't that. Would it be something around the firing pin rubbing against something, or is it the bolt head and forked end that isn't turning smoothly against the bolt body?
EDIT, so it appears that the ejector is rubbing against the bolt body.
