Comming back, looking to do a proper build, help? (Pve)

Recently decided to come back to the game as I bought it for a mate. So far he's enjoying it and we work great together. Currently at level 9, but we're getting up.

Having a main level 30 character and played the Survival quite a bit when it came out, I have a collection of the different sets of gear. Im intrested in finding out which ones would actually be to prefer using as the more supportive player (AR/SMG & Sniper) using stuff like heal station and pulse, what gear sets would go well?? And, gear mods & recalibration.. never touched it. Quick run down for the. Noobie?
