OTR Truck Driver
I've been lurking on this sub for awhile and I now i have a reason to post.I just got a new job, hopefully career.I will be a over the road truck driver, its acompany owned vehical so I don't pay for fuel of anything related to maintenance. For those who don't know a over the road driver is someone who drives cross country for extended periods of time.I have been told that I need to keep receipts for everything from work gloves to car washes when I'm on the road.I was also told that I will need to claim dependents differently because taxes will not be takin out(I get paid a percentage of the load).I am a 21 year old in Michigan with no family, house or payments besides a truck loan through my credit union. How many dependants should I claim? Also I will be paying a buddy to be my helper.I will be paying him $150 a day however I have ZERO knowledge of how I will get taxed on that or how I should go about claiming that.Im sorry it's a lot of info but if anyone can even point me in the right direction to figure this stuff out it would be appreciated.
