If ethics can't be systematized, and acting morally is acting out of virtue, and virtue plays out differently in different contexts, is that like relativism?
I'm reading about virtue ethics. It makes me so happy. ˆ—ˆ I'm still getting started though.
I'm pretty sure virtue ethics is associated with skepticism about systematizing ethics. I'm a little less sure it's primarily all about acting on virtues of character. It seems like a virtuous person could reasonably act differently in different social contexts. Is this like relativism? In a way, I guess virtues don't have to change, but how a virtuous person might act could.
Just to share gratitude, it might satisfy some people who've discussed the topic of veganism in the archives that I've chosen to become vegan myself directly as a result of arguments made in this subreddit which demonstrated its rationality and compassion. I just thought it might encourage people who answer questions that it has real impact. Thank you! c:
