[Cosplay] Gender bending cosplay question.

I'm a male, and a fan of Doctor Who. Today they announced the 13th Doctor, and she's the first female Doctor. While watching the announcement video, I realized I have the perfect coat to cosplay the 13th Doctor.

My question is, is that ok or allowed? I don't want to get people jumping down my throat for cosplaying the first female Doctor when I'm a guy. Thanks for any responses.
