Is my tree going to be okay? Leaf scorch

It's been really hot, dry, and windy lately. A lot of the leaves have turned brown. It looks like some new leaves are growing though. I trimmed the bottom a little before I saw you're not supposed to do that to new trees. It was planted in April. I was watering once a week but I've been watering twice a week lately.
