Yellow band on left side of SP3 screen, fix?

Thinking about picking up a SP3, but the guy said it has a yellow band on the left side of the screen. My research has led me to believe this is due to improper bonding of the screen (oxidization or something?), and some people say it goes away 1) with time or 2) after applying some good pressure up and down the yellow tinted strip. Can anyone confirm this for me? Just trying to decide if this is a worthwhile purchase or not. The yellow tinted strip is a bit of a deal breaker, but if there's reports of it being fixed or going away, I might just pick it up.
