About Aulë and the original dwarfes.

Hello,

Im reading Silmarillion at the time, and I havent yet finished it.

So, my question is are the original seven dwarfes that Aulë created the same dwarfes that got gifted the rings? Or are the original dwarfes long dead by then?

Thanks!
