Working outside and inside freezers during three day
Did your grandma ever tell you to cover your mouth before going outside on a cold day to prevent facial paralysis?
I never believed until after one cold winter that I found out I was uncounciously dripping saliva out of the corner of my mouth.
My mouth is not crooked (yet), but now I know why when I read a book (head tilted down) some drops of saliva end up in the pages.
At work we have two big freezers that I have to enter and exit regularly: one is around 15c and the other is somewhere between -5 and 5c. Outside the freezers we have room temperature (around 23c)
I spend around 8 minutes in total per hour In the 15c freezer, divided in four 2-minutes-trips.
As for the colder freezer, I spend lest time around 5 minutes in total per hour, divided in five 1-minute-trips.
So the math tells us that I end up exposing my face to these radical variations of temperature 18 times per hour. Working 8 hours, that is 154 times per day.
Now what conditions could I develop based on these conditions? And how could I prevent them?
I was thinking of bringing a neck scarf just to cover my mouth, and I could wear a jacket everytime I go in.
