Claymore and knight of lothric shield question

Hey Guys I am still on the high wall of lothric and got the claymore, and its soo heavy when I roll, increase dex? how do I roll faster? I also got the lothric knight shield, I am just a bit anxious on leveling strength and equiping it cause I will be heavier.....
