Blended Learning?

I'm sure this has been out for a few years now, with the integration of personal laptops, or Chromebooks into the learning environment. It has only been recent that our district is "experimenting" with blended learning. One or two teachers (not necessarily in any specific subject) from each school will be selected to try to implement "blended learning." In short, what is this? I am stumped as to what this is. I've looked up videos, but none of them exactly stated what it is, with an actual definition. From what I understand, I think it's something like an intervention system, that is more "individual," than whole group. I don't know if I'm gonna be picked or not (obviously, they ask you, because it falls under a completely separate job description, with a different salary). Nobody currently knows their status, and supposedly, this is a different job description than just a standard teacher, for the time being. From what I understand, it is not an online course, students do not get an online credit, but a lot of the information comes from online. Can someone clarify, please?? I am confused. Lol.
