Is it normal to make the kids sleep on the couch?

Hello, I'm just looking for some perspective on a situation. I arrived with a family, and they gave me my own room, as promised. However, it was the kids' room. The house only has 2 bedrooms, so they are making the two kids sleep on the couch in the living room for 4 months. The house is very small, so the living room and kitchen are the only "common areas," and all of the kids' clothes are still in their room. The kids won't really have privacy, and I won't either since they need to get their clothes from "my" room. Is this normal?
