Is accounting a social job?

I just have a couple questions as a college student. I'm considering switching to accounting as a major and from what I'm told, you need to do a lot of talking and smiling for this career. I'm not the most social person so I'd rather not, but if it's part of the job then it is what it is.

Would you say being an accountant requires a lot of social time? Are there some areas of the field where you don't need to be constantly interacting with people?

One last thing, attire. Is it always suit and tie no matter where you go?
